Split Hours privacy policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Split Hours is a work timer and time log for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, made by Beels Technologies, LLC. This page explains what the app keeps and where it keeps it.
What Split Hours stores
Your projects (name, client, color and rates), your time logs (start, length, day, description, what you said for a spoken description, and which projects share the time), your names and words list for spoken descriptions, your rate changes, and any timer that is running, including the name of the device that started it.
A few display choices stay on each device only: how hours are shown, the first day of the week, report rounding and the order projects are listed in.
Where it is stored
On your devices, and in the private iCloud database of the Apple Account you are signed in with, so your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch can share it. Beels Technologies has no access to it. Apple runs iCloud, and Apple’s privacy policy covers how iCloud looks after your data.
Split Hours Pro
Time logging is free. Split Hours Pro, a subscription bought through Apple, adds Daily Summaries, Reports, voice capture and Claude’s wording. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details.
To check that your subscription is active, the app sends our server Apple’s signed record of it. The server keeps only a count of today’s Claude requests under a scrambled form of the subscription’s id, for two days, to apply a daily limit.
Voice capture and Claude’s wording (Pro)
When you tap the mic, Split Hours records what you say on your device, turns it into text with Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and deletes the recording. If it cannot be read yet (for example, offline the first time), it stays on your device with a Try again button until it works or you dismiss it. The audio never leaves your device.
If you turn on Claude’s wording (Split Hours asks first), what you say or type for the description, with your names and words list and the names of your projects and clients, goes through our server to Anthropic, which writes the description. Our server keeps none of it. Anthropic does not use it for training. It deletes it within 30 days, unless it is flagged under Anthropic’s usage policy (then it can be kept up to 2 years) or the law requires keeping it.
What you said is kept with the log in your iCloud data so you can read and change it. To stop sending, turn off Claude’s wording in Settings.
What Beels Technologies receives
Your logs, projects, rates and recordings: never. There is no account with us, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party code in the app that collects data. With Claude’s wording on, the text of a description passes through our server on its way to Anthropic and is not kept.
On iPhone, the Live Activity on your Lock Screen shows only the timer’s clock. Descriptions and project names are not shown there.
When you copy or export
If you copy a summary or export a CSV file, it goes wherever you paste or send it. Split Hours does not send it anywhere on its own.
Deleting your data
Deleting a log in Split Hours removes it from all of your devices once they sync. Deleting a project hides it and its time everywhere in Split Hours, but a marked copy of the project stays in your iCloud data.
To remove everything, delete Split Hours from your devices, then delete Split Hours’s data in your Apple Account’s iCloud storage settings (on iPhone: Settings, then your name, then iCloud, then the storage list). The exact menu names depend on your system version.
If this changes
If a future version sends data anywhere new, we will update this page and describe the change in that version’s release notes.
